Now those who know me (or who follow my Instagram) will know I favour a bright and bold lip. I’ll admit in recent months I have become a fan of a dark smokey eye with a nude lip (Mac’s Velvet Teddy being my go to) but come most days you’ll catch me reversing this order and sporting a nude eye and bold lipstick combo.
This summer I’ve fallen for 3 new shades. All completly different to each other and all completly fabulous! Whatever your skin tone, or make up look these will work wonders! And the best bit is I’m prepared to kiss and tell all….
The first is a wet look, glossy purple shade from YSL beauty’s Rouge Volupte Shine collection called Fuchsia in Rage (19) £28. Now don’t be put off. I know purple sounds scary but trust me this feels as soft as it looks. I found this on my birthday back in June in Boots. (I like to save up my Boots points and treat myself a couple of times a year) Firstly I absolutely adore the packaging which is gold, luxe and heavy and just feels sooooo expensive! The colour was right up my street as I have a Dior purple lippy I adore and get asked about every time I wear it but it is quite a dark shade so I loved the idea of a softer version for summer. Surprisingly Purple has an amazing way of adding a bright whiteness to your teeth too which is always a bonus. This also tastes and smells divine and berry like. It goes on like a lipgloss but stays put like a lipstick and has Hyaluronic acid microspheres to ensure lips don’t dry out!
Next up is Buxom cosmetics. The cult US brand Buxom launched early this year from the to the U.K via Debenhams. For colour junkies like me their shades are just great, highly pigmented and long lasting. Plus the shades come with ridiculously cool names. This particular lipstick is called ‘Wildfire’. £17. It’s a matte texture and reminds me very much of Lady Danger by Mac as it has a deep orange tone. However I find it less drying and the shade sets off a tan a dream! A final word of praise belongs to the packaging which has a magnetic closing mechanism and raised branded black tube. Totally love it!
Finally is another new to the U.K brand Oud Milano. You’ve definitely heard me mention this brand before as it’s become a firm favourite. The shade is called Rossetto, it’s a Semi Matte finish and it’s the darkest of the three. Firstly the packaging is just BRILLIANT! Next up, it looks great also worn with a smokey eye or for a slightly more alternative look. I wore this on holiday twice, both times for evenings and I felt sensational in it. This could be my inner rebel coming but either way it looks amazing to pull out on the ladies room!
