Teen beauty guide

As a mother of a teen (14) and a tween (11) I can find myself a little stuck for ideas as they can be a tricky pair to buy for and I’m sure I’m not alone.

Ours are very lucky and have all the tech they need, so this year they have pretty much asked for clothes and make up. I’ve learnt the hard way that going “off list” for teen girls is a pointless exercise and it’s better to just give them what they want. My two are again lucky in the fact that they have access via my work to a great number of wonderful beauty brands and they like me are becoming beauty junkies.

As such I thought I would put a little gift guide together of some of the best beauty buys your own teenage daughters/nieces etc would love. I’ll warn you, you will probably want to be borrowing a lot of it, and you should definitely check out some of the brands for yourself.

Impulse Body Sprays LIMITED EDITION £6

These bring back memories to me, spritzing Impulse in between classes in the girls loos, then walking into class feeling fabulous! I love the makeover they’ve had since my day (20 years next year since I left school!) and I know my girls will love finding these in their stockings.

Brush Works Unicorn collection from £7 TESCO EXCLUSIVE

Firstly it’s worth mentioning that Brush Works make some really amazing brush ranges so if unicorns are not your thing then please PLEASE check out their vegan friendly brushes for yourself. However, it’s a well known fact that teen girls love unicorns (and mermaids FYI!) so these gorgeous brushes will look amazing both on her dressing table and on her instagram account!

KISS Acrylic Nails £8

My 14 year old daughter is constantly asking for “acrylic nails” and like a boring mother I nag her about how bad these are for her actual nails, not to mention the cost involved. These keep us both happy. KISS have an amazing array of stick on nails but she adores these as they give her the look she loves and they can be easily removed for school.

Benefit The PoreFessional Pore Primer £27.50

Teenage skin is a tricky thing. So they will love this lightweight primer that works to minimise pores and can be worn alone or under make up. Plus I don’t know a single teenaged girl who doesn’t love Benefit’s gorgeous and quirky range.

Yardley Luxury Bathing Petals £10

I’m always trying to encourage my girls off their phones (and social media) and to relax in the evenings so these gorgeous bath time treats, each fragranced with Yardley’s perfumes such as English Rose and English Bluebells are perfect bribe for doing so. As the petals dissolve they will emerge from the bathroom smelling sweet and hopefully relaxed too.

Toni & Guy Radiant Pink Illuminating Hair Perfume £8.25

Both my daughters love this (and are always “borrowing” it) Spritzed into hair it gives a subtle shimmer and smells fabulous to.

OGX Pink Sugar Plum Gift Set £16

A lovely gift Set from haircare brand OGX. It smells gorgeous and very festive and the girls will love the hair turban it comes with. Zoella is a fan of the brand too which is always a good thing when picking for teens….

Illamasqua Experimental Artistry Palett £38

Remember how we used to spend our evenings playing with our hair and make up in our rooms as Teens? Well, I wish if I had been given this palette as it’s stuffed full with 12 highly pigmented Powder eye shadows, which can be used wet or dry. Nowadays the kids have tutorials to follow online of course so they will no doubt look far better then I ever could have dreamed of from my own heavy handed self-taught skills! Lol
